  • S.P.E.L.L.D.
    The aim of S.PE.L.L.D. is the preservation of the proper use of grammar in a society who has let it fall into disrepair. The audience will consist of perpetual abusers of the English language, those who continuously resort to text-speak, and the entirety of the internet. We're setting our sights on Generation Y and 13 - 18 year olds.

    S.P.E.L.L.D. is broken down into four delivery channels. The first, a series of posters hung in areas with a high concentration of foot traffic. They focus on the misunderstandings that can take place when grammar is used incorrectly, such as when homophones are mixed up, or punctuation is misused. The second delivery channel consists of vinyl stickers to be posted around campuses, specifically those of high schools', with the occasional one on a collegiate campus. Like their shape, they focus on the rules of punctuation. An application for the Android to completely replace the default messaging system makes up the third delivery channel, translating and correcting all outgoing messages before they are sent, so as to improve clarity and reputation. The last delivery method is a website who's purpose is similar to "Texts from last night," in which users can submit all tweets, facebook wall posts, and text messages that they deem to be beyond comprehension. The site also offers quick tips on some of the basic rules of grammar, such as the difference between you're and your.

  • Top Shelf
    Top Shelf is a collaboration project between myself and classmate Kimberly Kascak. We designed and developed a mobile iPhone application and website to allow the modern collector to keep easy inventory of their collections. The application allows the user to scan in the barcode of the item, pulling the information from the internet and automatically cataloging the item in its proper category. No more need to manually import forty comics into a spread sheet or wondering what happened to that album you thought you had, or maybe you just borrowed it?

  • Fauxfest 2012
    A fictional music festival featuring solely fictional bands, taken from pop culture (namely television and a piece of literature here and there). The idea was to design a set of promotional posters, featuring headlining bands, with an accompanying brochure outlining the explicit details of the show, such as ticket pricing, the entire lineup for all three days, show times, and the like. Every poster was to have a different style of design, so as to emphasize the ranging genres of music and various bands playing at the festival.
    The entire music festival is built on references. Fauxfest implies the falsity of it, 100 trillion, 42 billion, 2012 referencing the end of the universe in Doctor Who, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the Mayan calendar, respectively. The location, the Parking Lot of the Restaurant at the End of the Universe is of course in reference to the unusually large parking lot of Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, of Douglas Adams' novel of the same name.

  • SEALIONSTIGERSHARKS&BEARS
    SEALIONSTIGERSHARKS&BEARS is a fictional indie-rock band of my own design, comprised of four math nerds, originating from Boston, who's music is heavily inspired by anything they deem "awesome." I created three posters for their upcoming tour, all the venues being located at zoos along the East Coast, where all the information is given in simple math problems. Along with the posters, I created a vinyl record for them, buttons for merchandise, and an album-promo video.

    The aim of this assignment was to take a current news story and design a piece of motion graphics around that idea, so as to make the information more accessible and visual for the public. My article dealt with love as a chemical reaction, and how that could be imitated into a "love potion" of sorts. The music number accompanying it is Tycho's "Past is Prologue.

  • Subtle Moments in Time
    This assignment was based around an object of our choosing, and the design that evolved from it. We were to choose one that we considered to have a deep, personal meaning to us, and I chose the cassette tape, for its ties to nostalgia and comfort. The purpose of this project was to expand our thinking, not only about what the object looks like and does, but it's impact on our lives, other people's lives, what it means and could mean, this project became more than the object itself.

    The aim of this piece was to select a short story and create ten monotype prints based around that story. The one I chose was Neil Gaiman's "Nicholas Was...," a retelling of the popular myth, Santa Claus.

    In this assignment, were to take images from any source and accompany them with fitting type. The images I chose had a sense of light and airiness, combined with this feeling of freedom. That's what the book became, an experiment in reckless abandon.

  • Gotta Catch 'Em All
    This assignment was to create a set of five prints, using the collagraphing technique, whilst turning four of those prints into a three-dimensional object, with the fifth print being the point of reference. I chose to create a set of Game Boy Colors with the intro animation for the Red Version (of Pokémon), the buttons, and the diagram embossed onto the print, connected via trade link cable. Video games as traditional art.
